Gwen La Roka is without a doubt a rising star of stand-up. She hit the comedy scene with an explosive energy that quickly won the hearts of her audiences and led to performances at world famous comedy clubs such as The Laugh Factory, Zanies, and The Improv. 

Her honest comedic approach, meshed with her physical humor, has crowds from all ages & backgrounds laughing at life, together. Gwen has worked with some of today’s funniest comedians like Gina Yashere, Felipe Esparza, Aida Rodriguez, & Finesse Mitchell, as well as legendary Paul Rodriguez & George Wallace. 

Gwen has written and directed her own one woman show titled Mi Casa Es Tu Casa, which sold out the entire 13-show run debut in Chicago just last year. She also recently had some fun as a voiceover actor for a Viva Films role in “Around the World in 80 Days”.

Winner of the ’21 NY Latino Film Festival Latino Stand Up Comedy Competition, she is now the first Latina from Chicago to make her comedy special debut on HBO Max. The Latina Comedy Festival kicks off their 2nd night at The Den Theatre with the first of 3 back-to-back showcases – The Nena Show. This showcase will feature the freshest faces in Latina comedy talking about their loca lives through the lens of Millennials & Gen Z’ers. These nenas are taking the country by storm and producing their own shows and podcasts while also delighting audiences at clubs, showcases, and festivals across the country such as Limestone Comedy Festival, Stand Up NY, and Laugh Factory. This show is rated R+ and not for the pearl clutching public. These ‘Sucias’ have been seen on Kill Tony, TikTok, and top comedy clubs and festivals across the USA. Headliner: Marcella Arguello is a stand-up comedian, writer and actor whose comedy knows no bounds; she eagerly discusses any and every topic that tickles her. From dating short guys – because she has no other options at 6’2’’ – to being mistaken for a man, her Latinx identity, her take on race & gender, and wild stories & situations she’s gotten herself in and out of. Marcella’s debut half hour comedy special Bitch, Grow Up. on HBO & HBO Max is quickly becoming a comedy classic.

Marcella was also the host of The Cache on Tubi in 2021, a hilarious clip show that infuses Marcella’s unique perspective on viral videos. In 2020, COVID-19 halted the entertainment industry, but Marcella managed to guest star in Sarah Cooper’s Netflix Special Everything’s Fine, was seen as a panelist on David Spade’s Lights Out on Comedy Central, killed her over-the-top dance numbers on The Funny Dance Show on E! and had a covid compliant interview on FuseTV’s Like, Share, Dímelo.

Her stand up can be seen on the second season of 2 Dope Queens on HBO as well as Night Train with Wyatt Cenac on STARZ; she has made a guest appearance on Comedy Central’s Corporate and on episodes of FuseTV’s Trivial Takedown.
