Jess Martinez (she/her/ella) is a Chicago-based standup comic, actor, and improviser who enjoys making audiences laugh as she genuinely tries to make sense of the world around her. She fell in love with comedy in middle school when she became obsessed with Comedy Central specials from comedians like Mitch Hedberg, Jim Gaffigan, Mike Birbiglia, and Maria Bamford. Eventually inspired by a random motivational video on YouTube, she found herself on stage for the first time in 2017. Jess is a graduate of The Second City Training Center and The Lincoln Lodge Feminine Comique standup programs. Her meticulous approach to projects on and off the stage lead her to shape prominent productions like The Moth StorySLAM Chicago, Las Locas Comedy, and the Latina Comedy Festival. Jess is currently a rotating cast member of the Ratas de Dos Patas comedy collective.
