Meet Gwen La Roka (pronounced rok-uh), a dynamic comedian based in Chicago who burst onto the comedy scene in 2009 with an electrifying presence and infectious energy. Her physical and heartfelt comedic style—rooted in her Latin upbringing and personal experiences—resonates with diverse audiences across iconic venues like The Laugh Factory, Zanies, and The Improv . Gwen honed her craft through theater, joining productions such as UIC’s The Vagina Monologues and Teatro Luna’s Machos, and completing improv training at Second City.

Gwen’s powerful stagework includes her self-written and directed one-woman show Mi Casa Es Tu Casa, which sold out its entire 13-show run in Chicago. She remains a trailblazer as the first Latina from Chicago to film a comedy special for HBO Max—winner of the 2021 NY Latino Film Festival Stand-Up Comedy Competition—now featured on “Entre Nos: The Winners 3”.
