Comedian Monica Andrade has been described as “hysterically honest.” Armed with a dark sense of humor, they delve deep into their history with addiction and growing up queer as the child of immigrants. They have performed at venues like Laugh Factory Chicago and Milwaukee Improv, shared the stage with Doug Stanhope, and can be seen making audiences laugh all over the Chicagoland area.
Monica is currently in recovery–their drug of choice was, honestly, whatever you got. In recovery, they’ve reconnected with joy and laughter in a way they didn’t think would be possible again, and they want nothing more than to help others do the same. Monica is the creator and coproducer of Laugh It Off, a monthly comedy showcase at Illinois’ first ever sober bar: The Other Side in downtown Crystal Lake.
